Story for tonight… Sade did not argue.
She did not shout.
She did not cry.
She simply left.
An Uber idled quietly at the gate, its engine humming like a secret that refused to be spoken aloud. One suitcase. Then another. No one moved to help her.
The security men stepped aside without question. No protest. No sympathy. Just obedience.

Inside the compound, eyes watched—but bodies stayed still.
The domestic staff stood frozen, their silence louder than any insult. Not one of them reached for her luggage. Not one said goodbye.
She was no longer madam.
She was already history.
A whisper broke the stillness.
“So this is how it ends…”
No one responded.
Because deep down, they all knew—
This house did not forgive.
Her private maid hesitated for a second… then turned and ran upstairs.
“Mummy… she’s leaving.”
From behind the curtains, Modupe stood still.
Watching.
Not blinking.
Not moving.
She saw Sade step into the car. Saw the door close. Heard the faint sound of finality as the engine pulled away.
And just like that…
Sade was gone.
Inside the Uber, silence wrapped itself around her like a second skin.
The driver adjusted his mirror, stealing a glance.
He understood what may have happened, having watched the cold attitude of the security men, gardeners and maids.
He had seen many like it.
He expected tears.
He expected anger.
But Sade sat still.
Too still.
Her hands rested on her lap, fingers slightly curled, as though holding onto something invisible… something slipping away.
Her phone buzzed.
She didn’t check it.
Instead, her eyes drifted to the window.
The gates.
The walls.
The house.
Fading.
Then—
A single tear rolled down her cheek.
She didn’t wipe it.
For a brief moment, her mind betrayed her.
She saw herself in a a much desired bride’s arrival that never happened —
That same gate.
But this time, it was wide open.
Decorated.
Alive.
Music filled the air. Laughter. Celebration.
She stepped out of a beautifully decorated car, her head held high, her face glowing with pride and promise.
A bride.
Welcomed.
Desired.
Chosen.
The staff had lined up that day.
Smiling.
Greeting her.
“MADAM, WELCOME!”
Flowers.
Cheers.
Hope.
She imagined how she expected to have paused at the gate… just for a second…
Taking it all in.
Believing it was the beginning of forever.
The car hit a bump.
Reality snapped back.
The silence returned.
Heavier this time.
Crushing.
Another tear followed.
Then another.
Still, she made no sound.
Because somewhere deep inside her…
She understood.
She had not just left a house.
She had been erased from it.
Back in the mansion, Modupe exhaled slowly.
Relief.
Sweet. Deep. Satisfying.
Her eyes softened—not with pity, but with triumph.
Taiwo.
Her Taiwo.
Every move he made… calculated. Precise. Intentional.
For her.
Always for her.
A small smile crept to her lips.
This was why she loved him.
This was why she always trusted him.
Even from the streets of Iwo Road, something had whispered to her—
This one… this one was sent to protect you.
And he had never failed.
Never.
If only…
If only he could resist women.
Her smile faded slightly—but not for long.
Life had taught her better than to expect perfection.
You take what protects you… and you hold it tight.
Her gaze drifted back to the empty gate.
Sade was gone.
Temilola would be next.
Just a few more days.
Just a little more patience.
Then finally…
Peace.
Her home.
Her husband.
Her life.
All hers.
And this time—
No one would take it from her.
