The Lagos State Domestic and S*+xual Violence Agency has intervened in the case of a widow allegedly threatened and assaulted by members of her late husband’s family in Ikorodu, with the agency stating that the family also attempted to dispossess her of her husband’s property.
The agency disclosed this in a post on social media on Wednesday, stating that it became aware of the incident after reports circulated online.

It said it subsequently reached out to the survivor, who alleged that she had been threatened, physically assaaulted and intimidated following her husband’s recent d3ath, adding that she had also reported the matter to the Owutu Police Division.
According to the agency, it immediately engaged the investigating police officers handling the case, with preliminary feedback indicating that the alleged perpetrator has been arrested and remained in custody while investigations continued.
The agency reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to protecting the survivor and her children and ensuring justice is served in accordance with the law.
While commending members of the public and partner organisations for promptly reporting the incident, noting that such vigilance strengthens the state’s response to s*xual and gender-based violence.
