NYSC
Olakunle Nafiu, the director-general (DG) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has warned that organisations that fail to provide accommodation and transportation for corps members will be blacklisted.
The DG made the announcement at a workshop in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi, on the need to improve the welfare of corps members serving in organisations across the state.

While assuring corps members that the federal government is committed to their security and welfare, Nafiu also appealed to state and local governments, as well as other stakeholders to increase their support for the scheme.
He urged corps members to prioritise their security, adding that they should always report suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.
He also advised them to remain disciplined, dedicated to duty and avoid unwholesome acts.
The NYSC DG further encouraged corps members to take their post-camp skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development (SAED) training seriously to perfect their chosen skills before the end of the service year.
“Be proactive, identify business opportunities within your host communities, and start making some money for yourselves even now,” he said.
“Take your service year as a training ground for future financial management by managing your finances wisely.”
Tochi Chris-Moneke, the NYSC coordinator in Kogi, appreciated the DG for the visit, noting that it demonstrated his commitment to the welfare and security of corps members and staff.
