Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has openly reaffirmed his pledge to deliver the state’s votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
He made the remarks on Sunday, August 30, 2026, while receiving the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, at the Government House in Osogbo.
Adeleke, who described Tinubu as his “dear father,” insisted that his commitment is genuine and not empty rhetoric:
“I don’t make empty promises. When I said we will deliver Osun State votes to our dear father, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I mean it 100 per cent.”
He further stated:
“I don’t make empty promises; I don’t play games. That’s not me, because I have a fear of God.”
The governor urged politicians in Osun, regardless of party affiliation, to set aside differences and work together for Tinubu’s re-election, saying politics must be guided by integrity.
Adeleke also referenced past commitments, including persuading Osun lawmakers to support Tinubu’s preferred candidates for Senate President (Godswill Akpabio) and Speaker of the House of Representatives (Tajudeen Abbas).
This comes after Basiru’s visit, which the APC National Secretary said focused partly on strategies to secure Osun for Tinubu in 2027, alongside congratulating Adeleke on his recent re-election victory under the Accord Party.
Adeleke has consistently endorsed Tinubu for a second term, citing the President’s South-West and Yoruba roots, ongoing federal infrastructure projects, and a desire for continuity of reforms. He has previously said he would campaign “big time” for the President.
