LAGOS, Nigeria — A Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday granted Nollywood actress and politician Doris Ogala bail in the sum of N30 million over allegations of cyberstalking and related offences involving Pastor Chris Okafor.
Justice Akintayo Aluko fixed the bail at N30 million with two sureties in like sum. He ordered Ogala to surrender her international passport to the court registrar and restrained her from making any electronic publications capable of harassing, threatening, intimidating or exposing prosecution witnesses to public ridicule throughout the trial.

The judge also directed Ogala to enter into a recognisance on oath to be of good behaviour and refrain from any misconduct in the courtroom or its premises for the duration of the proceedings. Upon fulfilment of the conditions, she is to be released from custody forthwith.
Justice Aluko expressed concern over Ogala’s alleged conduct during proceedings on October 28, 2026, which he said disrupted the court’s sitting and forced the adjournment of 10 cases. “By her misconduct and conduct in the open court, when she disrupted proceedings and caused a series of adjournments without any justification on the 28th of October, 2026, the defendant has exposed herself as a person capable of fomenting trouble when she is outside the courtroom,” the judge stated. He noted, however, that she had apologised and remained presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Ogala, who is the African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Abia State, had applied for bail on October 26/27, 2026, citing Section 35(5) of the 1999 Constitution and Sections 158 and 162 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act. The prosecution opposed the application, alleging that she deliberately missed earlier sittings on April 23 and June 9, 2026, while claiming ill health, and tendered photographs purportedly showing her at political events during that period.
The actress is facing charges under the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Amendment Act, 2024. The prosecution alleges that between September 2024 and March 2026 she published intimate photographs of Pastor Okafor without his consent, circulated allegedly false and damaging electronic messages, and used online platforms to bully, threaten and harass the cleric. One count also alleges a threat to continue publishing such material unless compensated or given a house. Ogala has pleaded not guilty.
Under the bail conditions, the sureties must each stand for N30 million. At least one must own a registered property in Lagos State (with verifiable documents from the Land Registry) or be a prominent national officer of her political party or a person of recognised standing. Both must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, provide tax clearance certificates for the past three years, submit two recent passport photographs each, and be verified by the court registrar.
The case continues. Ogala remains in custody pending fulfilment of the bail conditions.
