Episode 1: The Question Sade Shouldn’t Have Asked Chief Adebayo
Sade approached Chief Adebayo that morning with unusual hesitation.
She had just served him breakfast — his usual: oats, fruit, and black coffee — but her hands lingered on the tray longer than necessary.
For the first time… Sade looked unsure.
The same woman who controlled the office like a queen… now looked like a child afraid to ask her father for a favour.
Taiwo noticed immediately.
He pushed his plate aside, stood up, and held her gently by the shoulders.
“What is it, my love?” he asked.
Sade swallowed.
“I want us to formalize our relationship… I want to become Mrs Adebayo.”
Silence.
Heavy. Dangerous silence.
Taiwo froze.
Marriage?
To Sade?
No… this was not part of the plan.
He had always assumed that if she ever wanted marriage, he would arrange something grand for her… not himself.
Never himself. To someone else..
The look on his face changed instantly.
He dropped his hands from her shoulders as if burned.
