Abuja, September 20, 2026 — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared results for five legislative bye-elections held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) securing four seats and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) claiming one.
The contests covered one federal constituency seat and four state assembly seats across Gombe, Kano, Bauchi, and Delta states.
They were conducted to fill vacancies arising from d3aths, resignations, defections, and other circumstances.

Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency (Gombe State)
APC candidate Kallamu Usman MaiJama’a was declared winner with 41,121 votes. The Labour Party scored 3,553 votes, while the APM polled 872.
Dawakin Kudu (Dawakin Kudu/Warawa) State Constituency (Kano State)
APC’s Hussaini Yusuf Datti (also reported as Husseini Datti) emerged victorious with 22,890 votes. Other parties trailed significantly, with the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) recording 270 votes in some reports, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and others in low double or triple digits.
Disina State Constituency (Bauchi State)
APC candidate Yakubu Ali won with 5,846 votes. The APM candidate scored 5,225 votes, while the PRP polled 3,701.
Sakwa State Constituency (Zaki Local Government Area, Bauchi State)
APM’s Adamu Yakubu secured the party’s sole victory with 8,515 votes. The APC candidate received 3,771 votes, the PDP 2,076, and the PRP 727. Returning Officer Professor Muhammad Sabo of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare, declared Yakubu the winner.
Udu State Constituency (Delta State)
APC’s Okolosi Ator was declared the winner.

APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda congratulated the party’s four successful candidates — Kallamu Usman MaiJama’a (Gombe), Husseini Datti (Kano), Okolosi Ator (Delta), and Yakubu Ali (Bauchi). In a statement, he described the victories as a reflection of public confidence in the party and its candidates, while urging the winners to remain humble and deliver purposeful representation. He also commended INEC, security agencies, and stakeholders for their roles in the exercise.
The APM celebrated its breakthrough in Sakwa, marking a rare win against the dominant APC in the weekend’s polls.
