The South African government has rejected claims that Nigerian singer Ayra Starr and members of her team were denied visas to enter the country.
In an interview with Saturday PUNCH on Friday, South African Consul-General to Nigeria, Prof Bobby Moroe, said immigration authorities have no record of any visa application or rejection linked to the singer or her entourage.
He urged those making the allegations to provide the names of the affected individuals and their visa application reference numbers so the mission can verify the claims.
The response follows calls by some Nigerians, including former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole and Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, for the Federal Government to review visa applications from South African artistes and their teams on the principle of reciprocity.
