Lagos, Nigeria — The leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has alleged that unnamed individuals are actively seeking ways to eliminate former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.
In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, September 6, 2026, the cleric issued a direct security warning to the two opposition presidential candidates. “Obi and Atiku, be very conscious of your security. They are looking for any means to eliminate Obi and Atiku. But God will never allow it to happen. Watch out and be cautious of your security,” Ayodele stated.
He did not identify the alleged plotters or provide specific details about the nature of the threats. The cleric expressed confidence that divine intervention would prevent any harm from befalling the two politicians.
Atiku Abubakar is the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), while Peter Obi is the flagbearer of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 polls. Both have been central figures in ongoing efforts by opposition groups to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu.
In the same message, Primate Ayodele also cautioned President Tinubu against travelling to the United States, claiming that America was working towards the president’s downfall. No further elaboration was given on this allegation.
Primate Ayodele, a prominent Nigerian prophet known for frequent political commentaries and predictions, has previously issued statements on the 2027 elections, including advice on opposition unity and warnings about potential political strategies. His latest remarks come amid heightened political activity and security concerns often raised by opposition figures in the lead-up to elections.
