Ondo Town, Ondo State — A 46-year-old real estate businessman and owner of the popular Esther Estate, Akinbolusere Kayode, popularly known as Tolufe, has died in circumstances police are treating as a suspected suicide.
Kayode was found d3ad in his office beside a BOVAS petrol station in Igba town at about 3 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2026. The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the incident on Friday and said it had launched a full investigation.

According to a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, operatives from the Bolorunduro Division responded to information from members of the public. They recovered two empty bottles suspected to have contained insecticide from a nearby bush. No visible marks of violence were observed on the body. His remains were deposited at the State Hospital morgue for preservation and further examination.
Commissioner of Police Felix Ohagwu directed a thorough probe and urged the public to refrain from speculation.
Hours before his d3ath, Kayode recorded and released an emotional video that circulated widely on social media. In the recording, made while driving, he announced that he had voluntarily prepared a will covering all his properties and possessions.
He named his wife, Akinbolusere Adenike Esther (who hails from Ekiti State), and their three children — Oluwaferanmi, Toluwani and Daniel — who reside in Canada, as the beneficiaries.
“I want to use this opportunity to inform everyone that I, Akinbolusere Kayode, have voluntarily written a document known in English as a Will, covering all my properties and possessions. Nobody forced me to do this. Nobody threatened or coerced me into making this decision,” he stated in the video.
Kayode spoke about business difficulties, including technical faults with machines used in his operations, and reflected on his journey from working as a barber to building his enterprises from scratch through legitimate means. He praised his wife for standing by him during difficult periods when he had little, took responsibility for challenges in their relationship, and attributed some of his problems to his own carelessness.
Some family members have reportedly raised questions about the circumstances of his d3ath. Police, however, said preliminary findings did not indicate foul play and that investigations continue.
Kayode was a well-known figure in Ondo town through his ownership of Esther Estate and related businesses.
