Popular Nigerian comedian and actress Anita Asuoha, better known as Real Warri Pikin, has issued a public apology after a viral video of her onstage interaction with singer Timaya sparked widespread reactions online.
The incident occurred during Timaya’s performance at the 2026 AFRIMMA Awards in Dallas, United States. While performing his hit song Ukwu, the singer called for a lady to join him on stage.
Real Warri Pikin, who was backstage enjoying the performance, rushed out to participate.
In a video she shared on social media, the comedian explained that she was caught up in the moment and did not realise the nature of the stage stunt. “Na me put myself for this one o. I no know say if Timaya wan perform that him song, Ukwu, him must bring woman come out outside make him carry am. I dey backstage dey vibe when e dey perform when he say make a lady come out. And you know me na. When it comes to vibe, anything I dey. Na him I rush come outside,” she said in Pidgin English.
She revealed that she initially resisted when Timaya asked her to jump onto him. “Na him e say I go jump for him body. I shock. I say no oo. If you watch the full video, you go see where I dey beg am. I was very reluctant. Him say no oo. Na you come outside o. No spoil my performance. Na him I do am o.”
Real Warri Pikin took full responsibility for the situation and appealed for understanding. “Nigerians, please take it easy on me, I’m really sorry. I take full responsibility for my actions. Make una no vex for me abeg.”
She also disclosed that the viral clip upset her husband, Ikechukwu. “Like this now Ikechukwu dey vex for me and you know say I dey America, e too far,” she added, noting the difficulty of resolving the matter while she is currently in the United States.
Addressing online critics who suggested she leave her marriage, the comedian said: “All my online in-laws say make I comot from the marriage. Where I dey go? Where I wan go? Ikechukwu now dey vex for me… I plaster for the marriage till thy kingdom come. Make una take am easy nau.”
The moment, which many in attendance found entertaining, drew mixed reactions online, with some fans defending her lively personality while others questioned the appropriateness of the interaction given her marital status.
Real Warri Pikin, who won the Best Stand-Up Comedian award at the same event, insisted the episode was an awkward, unplanned situation and not a reflection of her character. She urged the public to show her some leniency as she works to make amends with her husband and fans.
