A woman who identified herself as Princess Damilola, a daughter of legendary Nigerian juju musician King Sunny Ade (KSA), has publicly accused the music icon of years of financial neglect, emotional absence, and failure to provide basic support for her and some of her siblings.
In an emotional video posted on Instagram which continues to be widely shared by social media accounts, Damilola recounted her experiences growing up.

Born in the United Kingdom, she said she lived between London and Nigeria after her mother relocated the family. She lived in her father’s various households, including properties in Bariga (Lagos), Victoria Garden City (VGC), and Ondo State.
“I never knew what pain was. I never knew what hurt was. I never knew what sadness was until I lived with my father,” she stated in the video.
Damilola alleged that despite her father’s regular performances and income, he did not pay her school fees or provide money for food and other necessities.
She claimed she and some half-siblings sometimes went without basic needs, including sanitary products for the female children, and were occasionally left waiting overnight at his shows only to return home to little or nothing.
She further alleged that a half-sister died in America after hospital bills were not paid on time, and that some siblings in Nigeria continue to struggle without his financial support.
Addressing her father directly, the 21-year-old, who is based in the UK and cares for her mother, said: “I told you to pick up the phone, dad. Let’s talk. Fix your stuff, bro. Your family needs you.” She emphasized that she is not seeking money for the present but accountability for the past, describing the video as only “part one” of what she plans to disclose. She referenced biblical teachings on providing for one’s family and expressed frustration that private attempts to reach him had failed.
The post by YeyeKudi Courtroom noted: “It takes courage to speak about personal pain, especially when it involves family. I sincerely hope her concerns are heard with understanding and met with a positive, compassionate, and constructive response.” The video has drawn mixed reactions online, with some expressing sympathy and others questioning the decision to air private family matters publicly or urging her to address issues with her mother.
King Sunny Ade had not issued a public response to these specific September 2026 allegations as of the latest reports. In 2025, he previously denied unrelated claims by Damilola concerning his whereabouts and well-being, stating at the time that he was “alive and well.” The latest claims have not been independently verified.
King Sunny Ade, whose real name is Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye, remains one of Nigeria’s most celebrated musicians, known for popularizing juju music internationally over a career spanning decades.
