The vegetable garden started at the State House nearly two years ago by Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, as part of efforts to promote food security through a national initiative known as #EveryHomeAGarden, has continued to yield harvest.
Following a routine visit to the garden for another round of harvest, the First Lady renewed her call on Nigerians to embrace ongoing efforts to promote food security by taking up and sustaining interest in home gardening.

Displaying her harvest for the day, which included lush green spinach, waterleaf, and fluted pumpkin, the First Lady described home gardening as a smart way of living healthily at little cost.
She noted that beyond guaranteeing food security, home gardening also contributes to efforts aimed at addressing climate change.
The First Lady went on to share part of the day’s harvest with her staff, using the moment to remind Nigerians to always show compassion to others through acts of giving.
