Hulayat Omidiran
The Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, Hulayat Omidiran, has approved staff promotions and the payment of retirees’ entitlements as part of measures to boost staff welfare.
Omidiran announced the approvals on Friday during the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration held at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
According to a statement released by the commission’s spokesman, Ademola Lawrence, she disclosed that funds had been approved for the payment of retirees, noting that disbursement would commence in batches as releases become available.
“I have approved repatriation monies for retirees, but approval is different from releases. We will begin payment in batches as funds are made available,” she said, urging patience among affected staff.
On career progression, the FCC boss directed that staff promotions be processed and concluded before the end of May 2026.
“I have approved that staff promotions be processed before the end of this May,” she said.
The FCC boss assured workers of the management’s commitment to improving welfare and benefits.
Omidiran also announced plans to strengthen engagement within the Commission through quarterly staff interactions and an annual end-of-year gathering.
In his remarks, Chairman of the FCC Tripartite Union/Joint Negotiating Council, Benson Ameh, commended the Executive Chairman for her leadership, saying it had restored confidence and unity within the Commission.
Also speaking, former President of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, Comrade Bobboi Bala Kaigama, stressed the need for sustained dialogue and cooperation between management and staff to ensure industrial harmony.
