ABUJA/KANO — Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has relieved Rashida Adamu, popularly known as Rashida Mai Sa’a, of her appointment as Special Assistant in his office.
The decision, which takes immediate effect, was contained in a statement issued on Monday, September 28, 2026, by Shitu Madaki Kunchi, the Deputy Senate President’s aide on media and public relations.
According to the statement, the action followed allegations that Adamu made statements capable of inciting supporters, engaged in activities aimed at undermining the All Progressives Congress (APC), and made disparaging remarks against Senator Barau. The office said investigations into the claims found her conduct detrimental to the senator’s political interests in Kano State.
The dismissal came a day after an administrative advisory issued by Barau’s office on Sunday, September 27, warning political appointees against activities it described as internal sabotage. The advisory alleged that some individuals who had previously benefited from appointments and support provided by the senator were working to undermine his political interests and weaken the APC in Kano.
Barau’s office described the alleged actions as attempts to undermine the senator and the ruling party. This is the second high-profile removal from his team in recent weeks. Earlier, the senator relieved another aide, Umar Alhassan, popularly known as King Indara, of his position as Special Legislative Assistant following a controversial social media post that included the phrase “Abba Must Go,” targeting Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Senator Barau, who represents Kano North Senatorial District, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC amid internal party dynamics in the state. No immediate public response from Rashida Adamu was available at the time of the announcement.
The development highlights ongoing efforts by the Deputy Senate President’s office to enforce discipline among political appointees and maintain party cohesion in Kano, a key political battleground.
