A 71-year-old cleric, Mr Omotayo Ezekiel Fajana, has been found d3ad in a hotel in Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, hours before he was scheduled to be installed as the Head Prayer Warrior Father of a Cherubim and Seraphim Church.
Fajana had travelled to the town to attend a church programme at Ogo Orimolade C&S Church, Okerigbo, where the installation was expected to take place.
However, the ceremony turned tragic after the elderly cleric was reportedly discovered lifeless in the hotel where he lodged.
The circumstances surrounding his d3ath have sparked concern among family members and church associates.
Sources said controversy arose after the deceased’s body was allegedly moved from the hotel to a mortuary in nearby Ikare-Akoko before a formal medical certification of d3ath was obtained.
The development reportedly raised questions about whether proper procedures were followed after the cleric was found d3ad.
Family members were said to have petitioned law enforcement authorities, prompting a full investigation into the incident.
Detectives are currently working to determine the cause of d3ath and reconstruct events leading to the tragedy.
They are also seeking to identify those who were with the deceased before he was found d3ad.
Three persons have reportedly been taken into custody and are assisting the police with investigations.
The spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, confirmed that the matter was under active investigation.
He said detectives were examining all aspects of the case to determine whether foul play was involved.
