Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on Thursday paid a visit to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, hours after holding a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.
A photograph of the meeting, shared on X by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, shows the governor and the FCT minister shaking hands while both hold Adeleke’s Certificate of Return.

Olayinka captioned the image: “Governor Ademola Adeleke visits the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.”
The visit formed part of a series of political consultations by Adeleke in the Federal Capital following his re-election in the August 15, 2026, Osun governorship election.
The governor, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after securing 511,067 votes. He defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes, winning in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas.
Earlier on Thursday, Adeleke arrived at the Presidential Villa around 5:20–5:25 p.m., dressed in navy blue traditional attire and carrying a walking stick. He was accompanied by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and several Osun State officials, including the Director-General of his Campaign Council, Senator Lere Oyewumi; campaign council member Sunday Bisi; Chief of Staff Akinleye Kazeem; and House of Representatives member Bamidele Salam.
During the closed-door session with President Tinubu, Adeleke presented his Certificate of Return, which INEC had issued to him in Osogbo on Wednesday. The meeting marked the governor’s first known visit to the Villa since his re-election.
Speaking briefly with State House correspondents afterwards, Adeleke said the primary purpose of his engagement with the President was to express gratitude for the conduct of the election. He described Tinubu as the “father of the nation” and credited him with allowing a free and fair process.
“Yeah, that is why I’m here to thank Mr. President, the father of the nation, because he fought for this democracy. That is why he allowed free and fair election, and that is the result. That is why I’m here, to say thank you to ensure that democracy lives in Nigeria,” Adeleke stated.
The subsequent meeting with Wike took place later the same evening. Details of their discussions were not immediately disclosed. The engagements come against the backdrop of intensifying political activity ahead of the 2027 general elections and follow Tinubu’s earlier congratulatory telephone call to Adeleke, in which the President described the election outcome as “a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in our country.”
