Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has called on all aspiring presidential candidates for the 2027 general election to publicly present their credentials, defend their records in office or public service, and subject their proposed plans for Nigeria to rigorous public examination.
In a statement, Obi urged the prospective contenders to move beyond campaign rhetoric and demonstrate accountability by laying out verifiable achievements and detailed policy blueprints for national development.

He stressed that Nigerians deserve transparent leadership and the opportunity to scrutinise the competence, integrity and vision of those seeking the highest office in the land.
Obi’s challenge comes amid early positioning by political actors ahead of the next presidential poll. He maintained that presenting credentials and subjecting records and plans to open debate would help voters make informed choices and strengthen democratic accountability.
The call is expected to intensify discussions on candidate suitability and policy substance as the political landscape begins to take shape in the lead-up to 2027.
