The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has finally disclosed the venue for the flag-off of its presidential campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party announced that the event will hold on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at the ADC state secretariat located at No. 1 Ilorin Road, Sokoto.

Senator Ibrahim Lamido, the ADC Presidential Campaign Coordinator in Sokoto State, made the disclosure in a statement. He said the party’s presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, is expected to arrive at the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport in Sokoto by 9 a.m.
Lamido invited party supporters, members of the public, and well-wishers to receive Atiku at the airport before proceeding to the campaign venue. He also directed party executives across the 23 local government areas and wards, mobilisation coordinators, support groups, as well as women and youth organisations, to activate their structures and ensure maximum participation in the event.
The announcement ends days of uncertainty after the ADC initially withheld details of the venue, citing security concerns and alleged attempts to frustrate its preparations. The party had accused the Sokoto State government of denying it access to suitable public facilities and logistical support. It also alleged that some hotels were directed to cancel accommodation for expected delegates.
Tension in the state heightened after the ADC’s governorship candidate, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, reportedly escaped unhurt when gunmen opened fire on his convoy near the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport on Friday night. The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) denied any involvement in the incident. Days later, an ADC campaign office was sealed, further fueling the party’s claims of intimidation.
On Tuesday night, Atiku accused the APC and the Department of State Services (DSS) of plotting to scuttle the inaugural campaign rally. The DSS denied the allegation.
The flag-off had earlier been postponed from Saturday, October 31, to Wednesday, November 4, for what the party described as planning and coordination considerations.
The Sokoto event is expected to mark the formal launch of Atiku’s presidential bid on the ADC platform and serve as a major test of the party’s grassroots mobilisation capacity in the North-West as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
