LAGOS — Nigerian music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia marked his 51st birthday with a star-studded dinner and album listening party on Saturday, September 19, 2026, in Victoria Island, Lagos, joined by his mother, several of his children, close friends, and prominent figures from the entertainment industry.
Notably absent were his current wife, Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru, and the mothers of his children.
Born on September 18, 1975, the Afrobeats pioneer turned 51 on Friday. He marked the day by sharing a reflective social media post describing “51 years of greatness” and styling himself “forever the oldest young man,” while also releasing a new single, “Mental,” featuring rising artist Fave.
Celebrations continued the following evening with an exclusive, invitation-only event that doubled as a preview of his forthcoming album, Oldest Young Man, and the launch of his new food brand, 2Baba Jollof.
Videos and photos circulating from the gathering showed 2Baba arriving alongside his mother, Rose Idibia, and four of his children — the two daughters he shares with his former wife Annie Macaulay Idibia, and the two sons he shares with Sunmbo Adeoye.
The group later joined him onstage to cut a birthday cake in a warm family moment. Guests included industry veterans and colleagues such as Kenny Ogungbe, Dayo “D1” Adeneye, Wande Coal, African China, Ayo Makun (AY), Faze, Tony Tetuila, Jide Awobona, Spyro, and Julius Agwu.
A highlight of the evening came when 2Baba and former Plantashun Boiz bandmate Faze performed a freestyle that revisited their early days together, drawing loud applause from the audience. The night also served as a platform for 2Baba to introduce his latest business venture beyond music.
Reports confirmed that Natasha Osawaru, whom 2Baba married in 2025, was not present, nor were their young son or the three children he shares with Pero Adeniyi (also known as Pero Osaiyemi). Pero herself was also not seen at the event, though she had publicly reacted positively to 2Baba’s birthday post earlier. Sunmbo Adeoye, now married to Pastor David Adeoye, was likewise absent.
The exclusive celebration underscored 2Baba’s enduring status in Nigerian music more than two decades after rising to fame with Plantashun Boiz and launching a highly successful solo career. With a new album on the horizon and expanded business interests, the veteran artist continues to evolve while keeping family moments at the center of his milestone celebrations.
