Nigerian troops have exhumed the body of suspected terrorists’ kingpin, Kachalla Ibrahim Battijo, from a forest near Iluke in Bunu District, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, for an autopsy.
The operation was led by the Commander of 12 Brigade Lokoja, Brigadier General Karim Sidi, who personally led a team of soldiers into the remote forest where Battijo had been buried.
Battijo is alleged to have been k!lled on June 10, 2026, during a military operation that foiled a planned mass abduction of students sitting for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in Iluke.
Military authorities said the operation also led to the dismantling of parts of his criminal network, noting that the suspected terrorist leader had allegedly been linked to several k!dnappings and bandit activities in the region.
The exhumation was carried out to allow for an autopsy and further investigations, as security agencies continue efforts to combat terrorism in the area.
