Vice President Kashim Shettima has revealed that certain individuals attempted to pitch him against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu barely three months after the administration came into power.
Shettima made the disclosure on Tuesday at the launch of “My Life of Duty and Allegiance,” the autobiography of former Head of State, Yakubu Gowon.

Recounting the incident, he stated that some people allegedly told President Tinubu that he was plotting to assassinate him and take over power.
He said, “Three months into our swearing-in, some people told Tinubu I was planning to k!ll him to take over power. The President had called me and said, ‘Sit down! Your people came to me and said stop wearing those Shettima clothes.’
“But the President said their story did not add up. He said, ‘When you gave me those clothes, I was an aspirant. I would not have been the candidate, neither were you going to be the vice-presidential candidate.’
“Some people told him after the election that I was planning to use the clothes to k!ll him and take over. However, Tinubu wore the clothes after that because he is not fetish.”
Earlier, Senator Kashim Shettima arrived at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, for the public presentation of Gowon’s autobiography, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Guest of Honour.
Other dignitaries at the event included former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience Jonathan; former Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar; Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who represented the First Lady, as well as state as state governors, serving and retired senior military officers, traditional rulers, and religious leaders.
