Tear gas was fired at the Lagos State governorship candidates of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, and Nigeria Democratic Congress, Rhodes-Vivour and Funso Doherty, respectively, during the #EndSARS memorial on Tuesday.
A video showed police officers firing tear gas to disperse the candidates and other persons who gathered at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos to commemorate the sixth anniversary of the 2020 #EndSARS shootings.
The candidates had joined a wreath-laying memorial for victims of the October 2020 #EndSARS protest.
The procession was organised by the Enough is Enough Movement.
