Nigeria Democratic Congress chieftain Peter Obi has responded to reports that former President Goodluck Jonathan is joining the 2027 presidential race, saying he is not concerned about who else is contesting.
Speaking to journalists after his screening in Abuja, the former Anambra State Governor said his attention is firmly fixed on building a better Nigeria rather than keeping tabs on his potential rivals.

The journalist asked: Former President Goodluck Jonathan is reportedly coming out to contest the 2027 election. A lot of people are afraid that he might reduce your chances.”
“Democracy is about people offering themselves for service and being voted for. I’m not in any way going around looking at who is contesting. I’m concentrating on how to build a better Nigeria,” Obi said.
Obi added that his priority ahead of the 2027 presidential election is to build a united, secure, and prosperous Nigeria through inclusive governance anchored on the constitutional principle of federal character.
According to him, Nigeria must become secure enough for citizens to move freely without fear, while families should no longer live in anxiety over insecurity and k!llgs.
