PORT HURON, Mich. — President Donald Trump turned a campaign rally into a viral moment Sunday when he complimented rapper Nicki Minaj’s physique, declaring she has “one hell of a beautiful ass” and asking her to stand so the crowd could see for themselves.
The remark came during Trump’s nearly two-hour appearance at McMorran Place Arena in Port Huron on October 25, where he was stumping for Republican candidates ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. Minaj, who has described herself as the president’s “No. 1 fan,” traveled with him to Michigan on Air Force One and later took the stage herself.

Trump was revisiting recent comments he made about the physique of Ohio Sen. Jon Husted, a former college football player. He recounted looking Husted “up and down” during a previous rally and noting his athletic build.
“I looked at his ass, and I’ve never done that with a man before,” Trump said. “It’s true. Off the record, women, yes. Men, no.”
He then pivoted to Minaj, who was seated in the audience.
“By the way, I looked at one hell of a beautiful ass before: Nicki Minaj,” Trump said. “That’s hard to miss. Stand up. That’s hard to miss.”
Minaj stood and waved as the crowd erupted in cheers and applause. Trump pumped his fist and continued: “Okay, I’m going to get back to my story. I hope Nicki wasn’t insulted, but we love Nicki. She’s been with us for a long time.”
Later in the event, Trump brought the “Pink Friday” and “Super Bass” star onstage. Dressed in a gold Gucci suit, Minaj led chants of “We love Trump” and urged support for Michigan Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers (facing Democrat Abdul El-Sayed) and Rep. John James (running for governor against Democrat Jocelyn Benson).
“I am so honored to be working with this president,” Minaj told the packed arena. “He represents resilience. … Since he’s come back, he’s changed the energy of our country and he’s given us a future to look forward to, a brighter future for us and our children.”
She added that the country is at “a major turning point” and spoke against what she described as children being “bombarded with sex changes,” saying, “We want people to leave the children alone.”
As she left the stage, Trump praised her further: “She never looked more beautiful. She is a very special person. She gets it, smart.”
The moment quickly circulated widely online, with clips shared by accounts including Pop Base drawing millions of views. Supporters at the rally described the event as energetic and entertaining, while the exchange fit Trump’s long pattern of unfiltered, often body-focused comments about both men and women in public settings.
Minaj’s appearance marked another high-profile show of support from the rapper, who has increasingly aligned with Trump during his second term after earlier criticism of some of his first-term policies. White House Communications Director Steven Cheung shared video of meeting Minaj on the flight to Michigan, jokingly floating the idea of her as a future press secretary.
The Port Huron stop was part of Trump’s final push to help Republicans hold or expand their positions in key battlegrounds, including Michigan’s open Senate seat and the race to succeed term-limited Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
The event drew a capacity crowd of several thousand, with Trump delivering a wide-ranging speech that also touched on gas prices, tariffs, foreign policy, and attacks on Democratic candidates.
