No fewer than three people have been k!lled as unidentified gunmen launched a fresh attack on Nyamgo Gyel, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The latest development, which comes barely three days after President Bola Tinubu visited Jos, has increased fears over the deteriorating security situation in the region.
The victims, identified as Luka Sandu Pam (36), Samuel Davou (38), and Deme Saidu (35), were reportedly ambushed while returning home from Gero on a motorbike.
The Gyel Youth Leader, Dung Davou, who spoke with Channels Television, said the victims were part of a group of about 15 youths returning from a mining site when they ran into the ambush.
Davou said the group came under sudden attack by suspected armed herdsmen, forcing them to flee for safety.
He further called on authorities to urgently address what he described as repeated and unprovoked attacks on the community.
He said, “We started hearing sporadic gunshots, and everyone scattered. Unfortunately, three of our people were k!lled.”
Over 28 people were killed and several others injured after heavily armed gunmen laid siege on the Angwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State last Sunday.
