The Media Office of the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (@Energygovng), Dr. Abdullahi Mustapha, acknowledges recent media reports concerning an ongoing inquiry involving his person.
We wish to formally state that Dr. Abdullahi Mustapha honoured an invitation extended to him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in line with due process and his respect for constituted authorities. It is also important to emphasise that the matters currently in the public domain remain allegations subject to investigation and due legal process. In line with established principles of justice and fairness, every individual is entitled to the presumption of innocence until proven otherwise by a court of competent jurisdiction.
We strongly appeal to the public to avoid speculation, misinformation, sensational commentary, and the circulation of unverified claims that may distort facts, prejudice ongoing processes, or create unnecessary tension.
Dr. Abdullahi Mustapha has, over the years, contributed meaningfully to public service and national development. It is therefore only appropriate that all parties allow the relevant institutions to carry out their responsibilities and for the facts to emerge through lawful, transparent, and due process.
We encourage all stakeholders, well-wishers and members of the public to maintain decorum, exercise restraint in public commentary, and continue to uphold peace and national stability.
