Sheriff Oborevwori, the governor of Delta State, has stated that he is confident that the voting pattern that led former Labour Party presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi to win Delta State in the 2023 election will not recur in 2027.
In an interview online, on Tuesday, Oborevwori credited non-indigenous inhabitants, especially Igbo people, and the Christian community for helping Obi succeed in the state.

The governor expressed confidence that the Igbo community in the state would back the All Progressives Congress (APC), in upcoming elections and said his administration has improved ties with them.
He claims that the Igbo community supported him in the governorship election and has continued to cooperate with his administration for the benefit of the state.
Additionally, Oborevwori stated that religious leaders who backed his political transition to the APC had prayed for the outcome of the choice and will keep up their support for the party in next elections.
He insisted that the issues that led to Obi’s victory in Delta in the 2023 presidential election have been resolved, and he added that he does not anticipate a similar result in 2027.
The governor stated that he is still optimistic that the APC will get broad support in the upcoming general election.
“First and foremost, the Igbo community in Delta State that did that in 2023 never did it during my election, and we are on the same page,” he stated.
“This time, I’ve instructed them to vote party. Because of their love for me, they will vote party rather than candidate.
I am certain that they will support the APC.
“The Christian community and the Igbo, who are not indigenous, are two elements that occur occasionally, but I’ve been able to handle them. I am collaborating with the Igbo for the benefit of the state.
“I also think that the events of that period would not recur.
This is because we asked the religious authorities to pray for us before I moved into the APC. Thus, you are unable to curse and pray. They have offered prayers.
“Fathers of faith, you prayed for us when I moved the other time,”Â
“I will still tell them when the election time comes. Therefore, pray once more for our success and victory. That’s the issue, then.“
