A throwback picture of the day the suspended Commander of the IGP Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Abba Kyari received a standing ovation during plenary by lawmakers has emerged.
The event took place on the 11th of June, 2020 at the House of Representatives when the lawmakers honoured Kyari for his exceptional service to the Police and Nigeria as a whole.
The lawmakers celebrated him for undertaking several critical operations across the country successfully.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, paid glowing tributes to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, whom he described as an intelligent man
He said, “It is not what they do all the time and for everybody but for those who have distinguished themselves in various fields of service.
This is also to show Nigerians that despite the not too good image of the Nigerian police, there are very good officers in the force.
“This is the greatest honour because this is the only institution where all Nigerians are represented. This is not an award from the house of reps alone but an award from the entire people of Nigeria.”
However, less than two years after the super cop was celebrated for his service to the Nigeria Police Force, several allegations bothering on sleaze have been levelled against him.
He has been named as an accomplice to Hushpuppi, a self-confessed high profile internet fraudster.
The FBI has, for that reason requested Kyari’s extradition for interrogation.
For the past 24 hours DCP Kyari has made headlines for alleged links with an international drug cartel that operates between Nigeria, Brazil and Ethiopia.
