Popular Nigerian influencer and human rights activist, Oruche Ogeamara Precious, better known as Mama Pee, has issued a strong warning to South African singer Tyla to cancel her planned concert in Lagos.
Mama Pee made the call on Thursday following Tyla’s continued silence on the ongoing xenophobic attacks and killings of Nigerians in South Africa, which escalated since April 2026.
Reacting to the announcement of Tyla’s APOP World Tour, which includes a performance in Lagos on December 22, Mama Pee argued that it is unacceptable for the singer to perform in Nigeria while Nigerians are being targeted and ki!lled in her home country.
In a strongly worded Instagram post tagging Tyla, Mama Pee wrote:
“So Tyla will come to Nigeria, pass our immigration peacefully? And we will buy tickets to go and see her??? As per?
A young man has just been strangled by the police in her country, several k!lled because of nothing but hate, and she hasn’t said a word…
Tyla should stay back in her human hunting country. Her silence in the face of grave injustice is loud enough.”
Mama Pee emphasised that Nigerians’ feelings are valid and urged citizens to boycott the concert, stating:
“If na only this one we fit do as our government no know themselves, make we do am. I stand with Nigerians. Stay back in your country.”
The activist’s statement reflects growing anger among many Nigerians over the recent wave of xenophobic violence in South Africa and the perceived indifference from some South African celebrities.
No response has been received from Tyla or her team as of now.
