Tunde Rufai’s Birthday is May Day !

Tunde Rufai’s birthday is an unusual one. He celebrates on a day when the universe recognises the sacrifices of those that make world economies go round. 

One of Nigeria’s youngest and most vibrant entrepreneurs was born on Workers’ day, May 1.

Tunde is the CEO of Wear It All Luxury Boutique located in the high brow area of Lekki. Ahead of this year’s birthday, he set up a charity organisation, the Babatunde Rufai Foundation billed for formal inauguration today. 

The foundation has as its focus:

1. To empower persons living with disabilities
2. Poverty alleviation 
3. Youth empowerment
4. Capacity building

Sodiq Babatunde Rufai (BRF) has invested his time, funds, skills and talent to help create a better world through charity. He feels at home with both the wealthy and the underprivileged especially with his great sense of humour and an unassuming personality.

It is therefore no coincidence that his Foundation shares the same initials as Lagos State’s former vibrant and equally tireless governor.

His philanthropic programmes take him beyond Nigeria to neighbouring African countries. In recognition of his contributions to humanity and the Beninois citizens in particular, the Republic of Benin’s Ecole Superieur des Science, de Commerce et D’Administration honoured him with an honorary doctorate degree in November 2019.

Back home in Nigeria and ahead of Tunde Rufai’s birthday today, he spent the entire week doling out endless palliatives to indigent Lagosians. 

His palliative programs are arguably the most organised in Lagos so far as he brought his organisational skills to play. Ahead of calling out beneficiaries and working with the relevant traditional rulers and religious leaders, his team organised the thousands of palliatives in massive branded bags and lined them up for easy pick up.

Beneficiaries, who normally would rush forward, to take their giveaways, saw the organised nature of the items and took gradual turns to pick their bags.

It was indeed one other occasion to turn impossibilities to possibilities as most a philanthropists have been discouraged from giving out palliatives because of the chaotic atmosphere that it turns out to be..
