Respected Imam Inadvertently Weds Fellow Man

A respected Imam is reported to have unknowingly wedded a fellow man in the Kayunga District of Uganda.

Sheikh Mohammed Mutumba got married to Miss Swabullah Nabukeera soon after meeting her at a Mosque.

Prior to the wedding, the couple did not have sex. However, after the wedding, Sheik Mutumba tried to consummate the union but his wife gave the excuse that she was menstruating. He therefore waited patiently for her to get better.

Sadly, a neighbour soon reported that she saw Nabukeera scale a fence, break into his house and steal his television set and clothes.

According to a report monitored on Musbizusblog,

Kayunga District criminal investigations officer, Mr Isaac Mugera said when Ms Nabukeera reached the police station she was wearing a hijab and sandals.

Police investigations:

“As the police’s normal practice, a female police officer, searched the suspect thoroughly before taking ‘her’ to the cells. However, to the shock of the officer, the suspect had stacked clothes in the bra to hoodwink that they were breasts,” Mr Mugera said.

“On further search, we discovered that the suspect had male genitals. We quickly informed ‘her’ husband who had escorted her to the police station,” he said.

The news shocked Sheikh Mutumba who asked the police to let him prove for himself by allowing him to see the private parts of his ‘wife’.

On discovering that he was a fellow man, the respected Imam made an alarm accusing Nabukeera of being a thief.

Mr Mugera said they later interrogated Ms Nabukeera, who revealed his real name as Richard Tumushabe, 27.

Mr Mugera added that Tumushabe told police that he had  pretended to be a woman in order to get Mutumba’s money.

Richard Tumushabe has since been charged to court for robbery and impersonation.
