Verydarkman (VDM)
The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a prominent supporter of social media activist Martins Vincent Otse (popularly known as VeryDarkMan or VDM), identified as Veryblackman (also referred to as VeryDarkMan’s brother or a strong Ratel member from Port Harcourt).
His arrest is said to be over an alleged threat to the life of comedian and former Big Brother Naija housemate Aderombi Adedayo Martin, known as DeeOne.
According to reports, Veryblackman was arrested on Saturday by Rivers State police after he failed to honour a police invitation. He was subsequently transferred to Lagos on Sunday.
The arrest stems from a video he posted in June 2026 in which he allegedly threatened to k!ll or severely assault DeeOne if they ever met, saying he was prepared to face imprisonment for the act.
The threat followed DeeOne’s public criticism of VeryDarkMan and his Ratel movement. At the time, the video drew widespread condemnation, with celebrities including Broda Mike and Mario Wazobia publicly calling for Veryblackman’s arrest.
Reacting to the latest development, DeeOne posted on Instagram: “Arrested and swift to Lagos! Next time you won’t threaten someone’s life. Kudos to the Nigerian Police for doing their job.”
The long-running feud between DeeOne and VeryDarkMan’s circle has featured repeated public exchanges, online criticisms, and mutual accusations.
VeryDarkMan himself has faced multiple legal issues over the years involving allegations of cyberstalking, defamation and related offences, though this particular arrest concerns his associate and is not reported as an action against VDM.
Police have not yet issued a detailed official statement on the charges or next steps in the Veryblackman case.
The development has reignited online discussion about online threats, accountability among social media influencers and their supporters, and the enforcement of laws against death threats.
