Former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, and his Kano State counterpart, Musa Kwankwaso, have arrived at the national secretariat of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Abuja.
The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) and Kwankwaso, who is also a former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) arrived amid cheers from supporters.

The two leaders who moved to the NDC from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) are expected to hold a consultative meeting with leaders of the NDC.
Earlier on Sunday, Peter Obi announced his decision to dump the ADC.
Obi described the current political climate as hostile and discouraging, adding that even within political alliances, individuals sometimes face unexpected opposition and criticism.
He clarified that his decision to dump the ADC was not influenced by any personal issues with party leaders, including David Mark and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
The former governor said recurring internal disputes and legal challenges within the party influenced his exit.
He likened the situation to earlier challenges he faced within the Labour Party, reaffirming his belief in leadership as service, stressing that he has never used power to oppress others.
He also dismissed suggestions that his actions were driven by personal ambition.
Instead, he emphasised his desire to see improvements in security, economic conditions, and citizens’ welfare.
