This is Abdulsalam Sikiru, a 3-year-old boy who the principal said got the highest beating from the terrorists. Mrs Rachael Alamu said in one of her interviews that…” Salam was beaten a lot, he used to cry and because of that…they used to beat the boy…”
Abdulsalam Sikiru is just 3 years old. Yet, during the period he was held captive, he reportedly endured some of the harshest beatings.
According to the school’s principal, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, the little boy cried constantly because he desperately wanted to see his mother again.
Those who witnessed what happened said he would keep sobbing and saying,
“I want to go to my mother… Mummy mi da? “(Where is my mummy?)
Instead of comforting him, they allegedly punished him even more for crying. They even described the innocent toddler as “too stubborn” simply because he couldn’t stop calling for his mum. Imagine a child that young, longing for nothing but the warmth of his mother’s embrace.
Speaking after his son’s return, Abdulsalam’s father struggled to hold back his emotions. He revealed that Salam is his first child and that during the painful days of the kidnapping, he became so overwhelmed with grief that he almost took his own life because of how deeply he loves his son.
His mother, filled with tears of joy, said she now feels like the happiest woman alive. Seeing her little boy safely back in her arms is a blessing she can never take for granted. She also expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who played a role in bringing the children home.
No parent should ever have to experience this kind of pain. May every child separated from their family find their way back home safely, and may God continue to comfort and strengthen every affected family.
