Video footage circulating widely on social media, first shared by the account Lagos reporters captures chaotic scenes of young men fighting in the street under the cover of darkness.

The clip shows people running, scuffling, and scattering amid yellow commercial buses and roadside structures in the densely populated area.
According to multiple eyewitness accounts and local reports, the confrontation involved rival cult groups or street gangs and occurred late on the night of October 9, 2026. One young man, reportedly wearing a red shirt, is feared d3ad after being attacked during the violence. His identity had not been publicly confirmed as of Saturday evening.
The incident has heightened longstanding concerns among residents about recurring gang and cult-related violence in the Itire-Ijesha axis of Surulere.
