Abuja — August 9, 2026: The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has resolved more than 5,000 pending complaints within five days, following direct intervention by its newly appointed Registrar, Professor Segun Aina.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by the Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Board said the breakthrough resulted from Aina’s decision to strengthen its Service Compact with All Nigerians (SERVICOM) Unit and ensure prompt handling of outstanding cases.

As part of the effort, the Registrar relocated his seat to the SERVICOM Unit to gain first-hand insight into the issues candidates and other clients face and to facilitate faster resolution. He also directed desk officers to address complaints holistically and without delay.
The complaints covered a wide range of problems. These included difficulties creating profile codes for candidates who no longer had access to the telephone numbers used during earlier registration, genuine biometric verification failures during Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration or the examination itself, and previously unresolved payment and e-PIN issues.
Other cases involved Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) challenges, inappropriate examination venues, technical problems, difficulties uploading documents, changes of name, date of birth, state or local government of origin, switches from Direct Entry to UTME, and graduates omitted from the National Matriculation List.
Benjamin described the development as part of Aina’s resolve to deliver swift and efficient service to JAMB’s clients, particularly candidates seeking tertiary education, and to reduce the difficulties and trauma often associated with dealing with the Board.
Professor Aina assumed office as Registrar on August 1, 2026, succeeding Professor Ishaq Oloyede. The rapid clearance of the backlog signals an early focus on improving service delivery and responsiveness under his leadership.
Candidates with outstanding issues are encouraged to continue using JAMB’s official support and ticketing platforms for prompt attention.
