The Information Minister of Zambia, Hon Dora Siliya has contracted the highly infectious coronavirus.
She made this known in a video she released in Lusaka on Saturday, May 23rd. According to her, she has also gone into self isolation.
The Information Minister who also oversees the country’s Broadcasting ministry is concerned that in spite of observing safety health standards, she still contracted the coronavirus.
According to her, “In the last 3 months, I have been very involved in risk communication in the fight against coronavirus.
“However, I regret to announce that even after taking all precautions like washing my face, hand, masking and observing social distancing as much as possible, yesterday, I tested positive to #COVID19.
“I immediately went into self-isolation as I am asymptomatic. I have alerted the Ministry of Health and I also gave them all my contacts especially in the last 10 days.
Dora Siliya has called on all citizens of Zambia to cooperate with health workers and observe the Health Ministry’s safety advisory. This is with a view to stemming the continued spread of the disease.
She also cautioned everyone to remove their face masks carefully to avoid self contamination.
