‘I Make $100000 in Africa even at One Single Naming Ceremony’ – Davido

Entertainment News - Women's Perspective

Afrobeat singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that he makes as much as $100000 in as little an event as a naming ceremony.

He stated that the bulk of his earnings as an artist does not come outside the shores of the continent Africa.

The ‘Assurance’ crooner said this during a sit-down with Complex, featuring Nigerian/American rapper Wale in which he talked about how much his music earns him in Africa.

Davido told Wale that he doesn’t make as much money in the US as in Africa.

He noted that, “Til today, most of the money I am making is from Africa because, in America, we are seen as, I won’t say upcoming, but I won’t get the same bang I will get over here except it is like a big festival”.

He stated, “But in Nigeria or Africa, somebody gives birth to a baby, just doing a naming ceremony, they will call you to perform two songs, they will give you $100000 (N42million), do you understand? Just because Africans like partying, like enjoyment.”

According to the 30BG leader, he makes more money in Africa and is less likely to make as much as US artists. The hitmaker also talked about how he works and the piece of advice he often shares with fellow Nigerian musicians abroad.

In May 2022, Davido released another song titled “Stand Strong” that featured The Samples Choir. According to the Naija banquet, the song is a breakaway from the Nigerian singer’s usual hop/dance style. In the record, Davido reminisces on his music journey and the battles he fights every day.

Only recently, the Nigerian music star, David Adeleke, charged an events management firm, 2icentertainment, $300,000 to perform in Kenya.

A source privy to the deal told a local media, Nation, that; “What I know is that Davido billed them $250,000 as his performance fees, and the extra $50,000 was to cater for his private jet.

“The last time we brought him to Kenya, we paid the exact amount for performance fees; however, for his private jet, we got a discount and paid $18,000, but you see, that was a long time ago. I think they tried negotiating for a discount, but things didn’t work out.
