According to a report by the Telegraph, a dramatic mid-air scare unfolded on an easyJet flight from Luton to Glasgow in the morning of Sunday 27 July, 2025, after a passenger allegedly shouted about having a bomb and made threatening political and religious outbursts.
Footage shows the man at the back of the aircraft, standing up and shouting: “Stop the plane.
“Find the bomb on the plane. Death to America. Death to Trump.”
He then allegedly shouted “Allahu Akbar” three times, which means God is the greatest in Arabic.
Panic quickly spread throughout the cabin. Three quick-thinking passengers tackled the man and restrained him, while flight attendants scrambled onto seats to seize his belongings.
One passenger, who asked not to be named, described waking to chaos around 8 a.m. as the man emerged from the aircraft’s lavatory, hands raised, loudly claiming to have a bomb. The man reportedly shoved female crew members who attempted to intervene, prompting other passengers to act swiftly.
Following the disturbance, the pilot initiated an emergency protocol, and the plane was met by armed police on the tarmac in Glasgow. Officers boarded the aircraft and arrested a 41-year-old man, who remains in custody.
Passengers reported that after initially resisting, the man eventually calmed down and admitted he did not have a bomb. Authorities said the flight landed safely and no one was harmed.
Police Scotland confirmed receiving a report of a disruptive passenger on flight EZY609 and said the incident occurred around 8:20 a.m. Investigators believe the threat was isolated and that no other individuals were involved. The man remains in custody as inquiries continue.
Video footage of the incident has surfaced online and is now being reviewed by counter-terrorism officers.
A spokesperson for easyJet confirmed that the flight crew had alerted police, who boarded the plane upon landing and removed the passenger. The airline emphasized that the safety of passengers and crew is always its top priority and that staff are trained to respond swiftly to threats of this nature.
The incident occurred while former U.S. President Donald Trump is on a four-day visit to Scotland, though authorities have not indicated any link between the passenger’s statements and Trump’s presence.
