Public outrage has greeted the d3ath of Ijeoma Promise Uzoma Okoro, a mother of two, who was allegedly beaten to d3ath by her husband in Abuja.
The tragic incident is alleged to have occurred on Friday, April 26, 2025, with the family making the heartbreaking news public on Tuesday, April 30.

According to her sister, who shared the disturbing account online, Ijeoma was left critically injured and vomiting blood after a brutal assault in her home. Her husband, realizing the severity of her condition, allegedly packed his belongings and fled the scene.
It was a compassionate neighbor who discovered her in distress and rushed her to the hospitalāwhere she succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, April 27.
The familyās anguish was compounded when the husband allegedly resurfaced only to make arrangements to move her body to Benue that same nightāwithout notifying her relatives.

The attempt to transfer her remains was allegedly thwarted by a police officerās intervention, which kept the body secured in Abuja for proper investigation and family involvement.
“To this moment, he has not contacted us. Not a call, not an apology. Just Facebook posts like heās a grieving widower,ā her sister wrote, her words soaked in pain. The family insists that the silence and evasion are damning and have vowed to pursue legal action. Social media users have since joined in demanding the suspectās immediate arrest and prosecution.
Ijeomaās death adds to Nigeriaās growing list of domestic violence fatalities, sparking renewed outrage over systemic failures in protecting women from abusive partners.
Activists are calling on the Federal Capital Territory Police Command to launch a full-scale investigation, urging authorities not to let the case fade like countless others before it.
Her two young children are now motherless, and her family is left shattered by what they describe as āa calculated act of cruelty masked as marriage.ā The identity and current whereabouts of the husband remain unclear, though the family alleges that efforts to reach him have been met with cold silence and manipulation.
As the hashtag #JusticeForIjeoma gains momentum, Nigerians are demanding accountability and transparency in the case. For Ijeomaās loved ones, justice is the only thing that can bring peace. āShe may be gone,ā her sister wrote, ābut we will not let her d!e in silence.ā
