The Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday visited the family of 5-year-old Hanifa Abubakar who was kidnapped and murdered by her school proprietor, Tanko Abdulmalik.
Osinbajo visited the little girl’s family in Kano State to commiserate with them over her killing.
The proprietor of the school, Noble Kids Academy Nursery and Primary School located in Kwanar Dakata, Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State where Hanifa was a pupil abducted her last December.
Tanko murdered the little girl when she recognised him. This was also after collecting N100,000 negotiated from N6 million from her parents.
The suspect confessed to the crime saying he murdered Hanifa to cover his crime.
He added that he had difficulty disposing of her remains without being found.
Speaking to newsmen, he said he took her corpse to his school compound and buried her in a shallow grave.
The little girl’s decomposing remains were later exhumed and buried properly.
The suspect who has since been arrested and standing trial disclosed that he poisoned Hanifa with rat poison to evade being discovered and buried her within the school compound.
The development has stirred reactions across the country with the First Lady, Aisha Buhari calling for capital punishment for the culprit.
