Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has revealed that he received early warning about a planned attack on Benue State before the deadly attack in Yelewata community, Guma Local Government Area of Benue occurred.
Sule said the information came directly from the Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia.

Speaking in an interview with Channels Television, Sule said Governor Alia gave him an intelligence report which revealed that some people were planning an attack on Benue. He said the report further revealed that the attackers were believed to be coming from Plateau and Taraba States and were expected to gather in Nasarawa before launching the attack.
Sule said that after receiving the message, he immediately passed the information to all security agencies in Nasarawa State. He also said that he asked Governor Alia where the information came from, and Alia told him it was gathered by his intelligence team. Sule said he also contacted top officials in Abuja to alert them about the situation.
In Sule’s words: “You know who sent the report to me? The governor of Benue himself. He sent to me that they realized that there were some people wanting to attack Benue and they were coming from Plateau and Taraba and they were going to gather in Nasarawa”
