The former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has criticized the recent public demonstrations involving women reportedly protesting nude, describing the act as both shameful and ineffective in resolving political conflict.
Speaking at a public event, Wike expressed dismay at what he termed as the embarrassment of women for political purposes, stressing that such actions would not bring peace to the state.

He said, “There’s no need of embarrassing our women to be naked outside, No amount of such can bring peace. No amount of such blackmail can bring peace.”
The former governor, known for his vocal stance on state affairs, emphasized that genuine reconciliation and stability can only be achieved through sincerity and humility from leaders.
“What can bring peace is for you to humble yourself and say, ‘For the interest of the state, I want everybody to work together,’” he added.
Wike further condemned the use of women, especially mothers, in protests aimed at stirring public sympathy through humiliation. “If not, carry all the women don’t even let them wear bra again, don’t even give them clothes embarrass your mothers to be naked in the public when you know you are not being sincere,” he stated.
He concluded by reaffirming that sincerity in leadership would have made it clear to all parties that peace was achievable. “If you are sincere, everybody would have known,” he said.
