Nigerian journalist and politician, Dele Momodu, has recounted his past relationship with former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, describing how warmly he was once treated by him.
In a recent interview with Channels Television, Momodu recalled the special treatment he received from Wike during a visit to Port Harcourt.

According to Momodu, Wike went out of his way to make him feel important and welcome. “He brought us to Port Harcourt, took us everywhere, gave me his Mercedes, his Maybach, everything,” he said. He described how, at the time, he could do no wrong in Wike’s eyes.
He also recalled a time when there was unrest in Oyigbo, and he, not Wike, went in as a journalist to speak with angry groups. He said this showed the level of trust Wike had in him.
Momodu remembered how Wike proudly introduced him as “the great journalist” while showing him around a hospital he was building in the State House. Wike even asked that the flag be removed from his official car just to honour Momodu.
He noted that Wike is someone who will go to great lengths to please people he needs. “When he needed Dr. Odili, Dame Patience Jonathan, he was meek” Momodu added.
