Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Adekunle Olapade, has expressed concern over the trend of some participants of the reality show becoming stranded after the show.
He pointed out that despite Big Brother Naija being the biggest reality TV show in Africa, āthereās almost no success path after the show.ā

This, he noted, has led to many former Big Brother Naija participants struggling financially.
Adekunle claimed that the ugly trend was due to Nigeriaās lack of a reality TV culture.
On his handle, he wrote, āLet me double down and say that BBN is the biggest reality tv show in Africa, but somehow, Nigeria does not have a Reality TV culture ā thereās almost no certain success path after the show and most of the reality stars suffer for this.ā
His post elicited mixed reactions.
Responding to a fan who said that reality stars are supposed to return to their primary jobs at the end of the show, Adekunle explained that some participants are jobless and hoped to find new fortune on the show.
āA lot of the cast didnāt have 9-5s to begin with ā which is why they tried to change their story by going on the show. Only a few had jobs/businesses before they went on the show. But yes, going back if things didnāt work out doesnāt sound like a bad idea,ā he wrote.
