Former BBNaija housemate, Kiddwaya, has explained that his appeal for financial donations for victims of the recent bandit attacks in Benue State was sincere and linked to his passionate commitment to indigenes of the state as a native son.
A few days after the tragic incident in Benue State, the son of Benue billionaire took to social media to call on Nigerians to donate to his foundation to provide help to the victims of the recent mass k!llings.
The BBNaija star said people could donate as low as ā¦500 because every naira mattered to his foundation, but the post earned him backlash online.
However, in a post via his Instagram page on Thursday, Kiddwaya acknowledged that the pain and misunderstanding caused by his donation post and chose to take it down out of respect for the voices of his critics.
The reality TV star said that the crisis in Benue, which resulted in loss of life and displacement, is a real tragedy.
He expressed commitment to supporting his people, stating that he will continue to use his platform, voice, and resources to help those in need, regardless of the criticism.
Kiddwaya posted:
1. Iām happy with all the attention Iām getting because it shines the light on how important this Benue crisis is. So thank you TV stations, TVC ,Arise, bloggers, to content creators and concerned citizens, I thank you all.Ā
2. We Nigerians are exceptional when it comes to talking on social media but in reality not alot gets done. Pls letās all take whatever action we can on the recurring security challenges in various parts of the country.Ā
3. While feeding is always a priority for those in need, The generated will NOT wholesomely be used for palliatives this time around. However, I will use the money donated to help some of the families affected (shelter, clothing, feeding, medicine). So, if you have been affected please email us and we will do our best to assist with urgent needs. Alternatively we will look for NGOās on ground who are dealing with the crisis and funds will be made available to them.“
He added,Ā āIāve seen the comments. I hear the backlash. I didnāt post about Benue for clout, I posted because I genuinely care. I am a Benue indigene and a proud Benue man. Whatās happening there breaks my heart, and I couldnāt just look away. I took the donation post down because I saw the pain and misunderstanding it caused, not because Iām ashamed of helping, but because I respect your voices, even the angry ones. But letās not forget what this is really about. Right now, people in Benue are being attacked. Families are being torn apart. Lives are being lost.
āInnocent children, mothers, and fathers, killed or displaced from their homes. Thatās the real tragedy here. Thatās what hurts and staying silent in the face of this kind of pain didnāt feel right. The Kiddwaya Foundation was built for moments like this, to step in where help is needed most. And like all foundations, community support is what gives it life. I canāt fix this crisis alone. But I can, and will, do my part.
āMoving forward, I will continue on this journey of supporting my people. Nonetheless, with more of us standing together, we can do even more, for Benue, and for every Nigerian going through pain like this. Let me say this clearly: I will not stop caring. I will not stop showing up when lives are on the line.
āAnd I will continue to use what I have, my voice, my platform, and my resources, to help, no matter what anyone says. This isnāt about me. It never was. Itās about the Benue people, and i hope that when the noise fades, weāll all remember what truly matters.ā
