President Donald Trump has said that the US is going to “run Venezuela until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transition”
He made the declaration after the US military launched strikes on the country and captured its president, Nicolas Maduro on Sunday.

Trump said that US oil companies will fix Venezuela’s “broken infrastructure and “start making money for the country.”
He added that he is “ready” to stage a second “and much larger” attack on the country if needed.
In an address on state television, Venezuela’s Vice President Delcy RodrĆguez said Maduro is the country’s only president.

She condemned the “armed aggression against our country“, and added that the country’s defence council has been “activated“.
“To our Venezuela, to our people: There is a clear government here,” she said adding that Venezuela is open to respectful and lawful dialogue.
