The Lagos State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service NCoS, at the weekend received Grammy-winning music star Burna Boy and social commentator Otse Vincent, popularly known as VeryDarkMan VDM, during a courtesy visit to the Maximum Security Custodial Centre, Kirikiri, Apapa, Lagos.
The Officer in Charge of the facility, Sanni Richard, received the delegation and explained the procedures guiding fine payments, eligibility criteria, and the legal safeguards in place to ensure transparency and strict compliance with court orders.

According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Osho Onimisi Joseph, the visit was undertaken to enable the duo “obtain firsthand information on the legal and administrative procedures involved in facilitating the release of inmates eligible for discharge through the payment of fines, in line with existing laws and correctional regulations.”
The Nigerian Correctional Service reiterated that inmates are kept in safe, secure, and humane conditions, in line with the Nigerian Correctional Service Act and international best practices.
The Service also commended lawful humanitarian efforts that promote access to justice, custodial decongestion, and humane treatment of inmates, while reaffirming its commitment to rehabilitation and successful reintegration of offenders into society.
