Dr. Aliyu Audu, former Special Advisor on Public Affairs to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has applied to register a new political party, the African Renaissance Congress (ARC).
He submitted a formal registration request to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The letter was submitted to the INEC National Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, on Tuesday, August 22, 2025.
Audu described the ARC as not merely another political association, but a movement of rebirth, renewal, and rescue, inspired by the timeless symbolism of “Noah’s Ark.”
According to the Guardian, Audu submitted the letter on behalf of the trustees and founding members of the African Renaissance Movement (ARM). The former presidential aide is the Convener of the ARM. He said the rampant corruption, broken leadership, systemic injustice, and spiritual disconnection are threatening to sink the collective destiny of Nigerians.
According to Audu, the ARC seeks to serve as a vessel of political, spiritual, and economic redemption just as Noah’s Ark preserved humanity in the midst of a flood
The former presidential aide added that the ARC, particularly seeks to rescue Nigeria in 2027 through a new style of governance rooted in competence, conscience, and compassion. He further stated that the ARC plans to position Nigeria as a continental leader in sustainable development, ideological clarity, and spiritual renewal.
“ARC seeks to manifest as a political party of conscience and credibility, a continental force for integration, dignity, and prosperity, aside from ensuring a youth-powered revolution of minds and morals, aligning governance with data, innovation, and God’s higher order.”
In another development, a member of the Arewa Consultative Forum, Sule Lamido said that President Tinubu’s chances in the 2027 general elections are under threat with the emergence of an opposition coalition, the ADC. However, Sule Lamido, a PDP chieftain and former Jigawa governor, said the coalition may get it wrong in the 2027 election if it picks the wrong presidential candidate.
Lamido explained that the ADC coalition was a coming together of individuals, while that of 2014 was a coalition of organic, cohesive, and organised political institutions.
It is also reported that as the 2027 elections approach, the ACF reaffirmed its non-partisan stance, stating it will not align with any political party while members may hold personal views.
ACF Chairman Mamman Osuman urged northern leaders and citizens to stay vigilant and united amid insecurity, political treachery, and environmental disasters affecting the region. The forum expressed concern over northern marginalisation under Tinubu, highlighting sidelining in federal budgets, infrastructure, and policy decisions despite strong 2023 election support.
